Parallax Revit Window Library
Windows come in a wide variety of styles/actions and configurations, as well as having many variations in Exterior and Interior Trim. If each variation of Window Unit and Trim is a separate standalone component, managing (and using) the library would be untenable. As designs change frequently, Revit Windows also want to be built from the same kit of parts, so making design changes later do not destructively edit the model or annotations. The Parallax Window Library has been purpose built, with each separate action/function, and Trim (both exterior and interior) being a Shared and Nested Component. This allows for High Fidelity Window Representations and Documentation (regardless of Manufacturer, or Style), while also being as efficient and performance oriented as possible.

Swappable Units (Sashes) (Shared)

Each Window has Parameters for swapping the Units/Sashes to any other Units in the Window Library or Project. Custom Units can also be created and loaded in to the PROJECT without having to open or edit the Parent Window Component, as the Units are Shared/Nested. Most Units are interchangeable within all Families. All Units have parametric Grids/Muntins that can be set By Unit Type.

Each Window Unit has Parameters for swapping Nested Muntin Components, to any other Muntin Component in the Window Library. They can also be turned off. Muntin presence and selection are Type Parameters of the Units, since the Units are Shared/Nested. Muntins have numeric controls for types that leverage arrayed Muntins. Custom Muntin Components can also be created and loaded in to the PROJECT without having to open or edit the Parent Window Component, as the Muntin Components are Shared/Nested. Most Muntins are interchangeable within all Families, except “specialty” Windows (Custom Shape versions, etc).
Swappable “Casings” (for standard trim or custom Brick Molds) (Shared)

Each Window has Parameters for swapping the Casing to any other Casing in the Window Library. Custom Casings can also be created and loaded in to the PROJECT without having to open or edit the Parent Window Component, as the Casings are Shared/Nested. Most Casings are interchangeable within all Families, except “specialty” Windows (Custom Shape versions, etc). Note that Casing Families Have Type Driven Widths and Heights, and the Parent Family must have the Casing Values set to a corresponding value, for complex Profiles.

Each Window has Parameters for swapping an Exterior Trim, and an Interior Trim Component, to any other Trim Component in the Window Library. They can also be turned off. Trim presence and selection are Instance Parameters, for Design Flexibility. Custom Trim Components can also be created and loaded in to the PROJECT without having to open or edit the Parent Window Component, as the Trim Components are Shared/Nested. Most Trims are interchangeable within all Families, except “specialty” Windows (Custom Shape versions, etc).

Parent Window Components exist for mulled combinations of Sashes/Units. For each, the Units within can be changed with Family Type parameters. The Sizes can be Equally distributed (horizontally) or can be set to Uneven, with custom sizes per Row.
Parametric Finish Parameters

Each Parent Window has Material Finish Parameters, which propagate down to the nested Units (For Glazing, Sash, and Casing). (Surround Finishes are parametric, but within the Surround Types). This allows Windows to have additional Paint, Stain, Film, or other “applied finishes” to be used in the model, which are taggable and renderable.
Our Library Strategy
Parallax Libraries operate on a “purchase in” basis. The cost of the Library is a ONE TIME purchase price, but you receive updates to the Library in the future, when Parallax Team makes changes or updates to the Libraries.
The current version of the Parallax Millwork Library exists in Revit 2022 – Revit 2025.
